It would be appropriate to mention here the raison d'etre of the Schools of Mathematical Sciences and Indian Heritage being developed side by side to effect a natural blend of the ancient and the modern, the East and the West as Swamiji wanted.


The Vivekananda School of Indian Heritage aims at creating a band of scholars who will be adequately equipped to conduct meaningful research in Indian Heritage in its multifarious aspects. Integrating India's heritage with her academic and intellectual pursuits in the field of modern fundamental sciences in the light of Swami Vivekananda's advice and instructions to Jamshedji Tata in 1893,

Swami Vivekananda established Ramakrishna Mission as commanded by his Master, Sri Ramakrishna, for the secular and spiritual amelioration of humankind as a whole, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, nationality, gender or religion. The twofold aim of the Ramakrishna Mission is, in Swami Vivekananda's own Sanskrit slogan, atmano mokshartham jagaddhitaya cha ("For one's own spiritual emancipation and for the welfare of the world").
