The Department of Sports Science and Yoga at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Belur, is organizing a two-day national seminar on 'Recent Trends: Research in Sports Science and Yoga' under the aegis of the UNESCO Chair in ‘Inclusive Adapted Physical Education and Yoga' to discuss recent developments in these academic and professional fields to create awareness among higher education stakeholders and encourage the youngsters to take up this discipline seriously in their pursuit of higher education.

The programme looks beyond a simple discussion and include two workshops with hands-on training and practice in sports biomechanics and Yoga.

BIG DATA ANALYTICS incorporates strategies for assimilation, management, analysis and interpretation of large datasets. The field lies at the intersection of statistics, mathematics, computer-science and engineering, with a diverse range of applications including healthcare, finance, business analytics, smart-cities, bio-informatics. In recent years, development of sophisticated `learning’ algorithms coupled with the availability of massive datasets and facilitated by powerful and efficient computing infrastructures, have led to pioneering improvements in several applications.

With UNDERGRADUATES of Science and Engineering as the target audience, this WORKSHOP brings together leading data scientists from academia and industry to give an overview of the field, highlight the thrust areas of research, and present scopes and exciting career opportunities.
