Inauguration of the New Academic Building, Vidyarthi Homa and First Convocation Ceremony of Integrated Rural & Tribal Development and Management Faculty Centre
The new academic building of Integrated Rural & Tribal Development and Management (IRTDM) Faculty Centre under the School of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University was inaugurated on the 15th October, 2012, the auspicious day of Mahalaya.
The program included the inauguration of the 4-storied academic building, the unveiling of the statue of Swami Vivekananda, the Vidyarthi-Vrata Homa and finally the first convocation ceremony of the IRTDM Faculty Centre where 17 students of the university were awarded with their degrees. The Vidyarthi-Vrata Homa is a rich and unique tradition of the Ramakrishna Mission designed to solemnize students' resolutions for building healthy habits -physical as well mental- by reapeating certain mantras or verbal formulas called vidyarthi homa mantras.
The program started at 9:00 a.m. with the unveiling of the statue of Swami Vivekananda by Srimat Swami Suhitanandaji maharaj, the General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission and Chancellor of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University. The newly constructed academic building was inaugurated at 9:30 a.m. with the cutting of the red ribbon by revered Swami Suhitanandaji maharaj in the presence of the guest of honor Dr. S Ayypan, Director General of ICAR and the secretary of Agriculture Education and Research, Government of India.
Seventeen students were awarded with degrees during the first convocation of the IRTDM faculty centre. Four B.Sc students belonging to the 2009 batch and thirteen M.Sc students belonging to the 2006 and 2007 batches. The ceremony was presided over by the Chancellor of the University, Revered Swami Suhitananadaji Maharaj, the Vice Chancellor of the University Swami Atmapriyanandaji Maharaj, the Administrative Head of IRTDM faculty centre Swami Sashankanadaji Maharaj and our chief guest of honor Dr. S Ayypan.
